Shockwave Therapy uses high frequency sound waves to stimulate the physiological healing process by eliciting a controlled inflammatory reaction. This treatment promotes accelerated recovery of soft tissue, bone, heel and joint pain. Shockwave therapy has been proven to be effective in chronic conditions when other treatments have failed. This non-surgical procedure has no side effects and is an affordable treatment (covered fully or partially by most insurance companies). Treatments are usually once a week, for 3-4 weeks. Shockwave therapy is not used in isolation but as a component of treatment that includes exercise, hands-on techniques and education.
Shockwave therapy may be appropriate for you, if you have been experiencing pain due to:
- Plantar Fasciitis (heel pain, heel spurs)
- Achilles Tendinopathy
- Tennis Elbow
- Jumper’s Knee
- Calcific Rotator Cuff Tendinitis
